Hi CoolFans

I am the winner of Round 4 - Macro Photography and a finalist too so I thought I should share my tips/tricks to help you get that perfect shot. My work have been published in magazines & newspapers and I am the President of my College's Photography Society. Here are some of my pictures with Coolpad Note 3 Lite -

Got you interested? Let's click a perfect shot now

So Macro Photography is basically done from a close distance, which gives us great details.

Most important factors for a perfect macro image are focus, composition and closeness to the subject. You miss one factor and your picture will turn out to be just normal and boring! I will not be talking about using a macro lens as I have never used one on a mobile.

Some basics before I get into details -

1. As Macro Photography is all about details from a close distance, you need to practise to hold still before clicking the shutter button. Hold your breath for a few seconds  after focussing for a sharp picture.
2. Don't use Auto Mode no matter how tempting and easy it might be. Forget a great picture if you are not ready to experiment with the settings. Get into Pro Mode right now and I promise you won't use the Auto Mode after this tutorial.
3. Enable Fast Capture and Grid in Pro Mode.

Let's focus on the main factors now -

1. Closeness to the Subject -

The essence of a macro picture is the closeness to the subject to get great details and depth in the picture. Get as close to the subject as possible. There's a whole different world in close-up out there which looks great, get out and start exploring!

Best part? Endless subjects to make normal things extraordinary!

2. Focus

A macro picture is lifeless without that perfect focus and thus we need to stop depending on Auto mode. In Pro Mode, slide the focus to the extreme left to get the closest focus possible.

Now start moving the Focus slider (F) to the right to get a sharp focus on your subject. This slider is distance based so you need to decide where to lock your focus, settle where you get the best details. Adjust the Exposure Value[EV] slider accordingly.

3. Composition

Now the most important part which a majority of smartphone photographers miss out, composition! You can easily focus on any subject by getting close to it, but it takes imagination and creative skills to get the perfect frame.
Thumb Rule - The background should not be dull and distracting!

Here are a few tips to help you compose a Macro Click!

A. Follow Rule of Thirds - Use grid and place your subject in the corners(extreme right or left). Avoid placing your subject in the middle which 99.99% of users do. It will make the picture much more interesting!

See how I have placed the subject in the corners, it would have turned out boring if placed in the middle.

B. Experiment with various angles - Stop clicking pictures in the same boring angles which everyone have already clicked and start placing your mobile in different angles in which the subject looks clear and background is blurred which looks really cool in Macro Photography.

Check this picture for the idea of a different angle and the use of background(bokeh effect)!

I would like to conclude that Note 3 Lite has one of the best smartphone cameras in this segment not only because of its lens/hardware/high megapixels but because of the awesome work by the devs who have provided a Pro mode for Pro Photography and its high time everyone starts using it . I hope that you guys get inspired by this tutorial and start clicking in Pro mode. I spent 2-3 hours to prepare this tutorial, so I wish each one of you posts their clicks in this thread after trying out my tips

P.S- All Pictures used in this tutorial are mine. Do reply if you found this tutorial helpful and suggest the next Photography Tutorial that you guys want for Coolpad devices.

Thanks <3

Untitled.jpg

Howz this???

This fly was troubling me like hell while I was studying.. Irritating...
Felt like SHOOTING it...
And So I "SHOT" it...
A casual shot from my Galaxy A7... Unfortunately, Samsung is poor enough in providing a manual/ pro mode... Their stock camera is only good while clicking normal pics, not a satisfactory performance when it comes to Macro... My CP Note 3 is way better than A7 for Macros...

Yes... CoolPad's pro mode is much better than Samsung... Macro shots are exceptionally good in coolpad as compared to samsung. For others, I find pics with a lot a noise.  Post Time 2016-5-21 11:11
